Sample Language for your Will
The following language may help you and your attorney when creating a new bequest.
General Bequest. If you intend to leave an outright gift of cash, securities, or other property by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, or a fixed percentage of your estate to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation to be used for general purposes:
“I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute Foundation, Inc. [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
Specific Bequest. If you intend to make an outright bequest for a specific purpose, such as supporting research or education or patient services:
“I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute Foundation, Inc. [written amount or percentage of the estate or description of property] for the purpose of research relating to [e.g. colon] cancer. If this type of research is impractical or is not being conducted at the time of my death, then the Foundation may utilize this devise for its unrestricted use and purpose.”
